OUR PROGRAM

Building Community Leaders

OUR ALLIES

Our AmeriCorps Allies are individuals from the community who are committed to making a difference through service.  They are emerging leaders who are looking for an opportunity to enhance their professional skills and build the capacity of nonprofit organizations. Our Signature Ally program provides a full-time, paid apprenticeship where our Allies serve 10-months with one of our partner organizations.  Our Allies are recruited and selected without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, criminal record, political affiliation, marital or parental status, military service, community, or social affiliations. Anyone 18 years or older, with a minimum high school diploma or GED, and who is a U.S. citizen or has permanent residency, is welcome to  Apply.

BUILD CAPACITY

Our partner organizations increase their capacity and client outreach while decreasing staffing costs and improving nonprofit services by hosting an Ally or multiple Allies.  In previous years, our Allies have launched new programs, created operational systems, managed volunteer networks and developed after school and mentoring programs. Our partner organizations report that their work with our Allies increases their capacity by more than 30%! Results like these have led the Public Allies program to be recognized as a model for national service. An investment in our Allies is an investment in your mission, and our shared community! PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS

After successful completion of our Signature Apprenticeship, our Allies choose from one of three pathways. Education, Career, or a Second Term of AmeriCorps Service.

The Education Pathway is an evidence-based initiative that transforms national service into a seamless bridge to college completion. The North Carolina HBCU Pipeline initiative is an example of our education pathway in practice offering students an opportunity to enhance skills and financial assistance to support continued learning.

Our Career Pathway expands the AmeriCorps apprenticeship and accelerates graduates’ careers by providing intensive network building, professional skill building, career planning, and advancement supports.

The option to serve a Second Term of AmeriCorps term is available to all Allies.
